Micro Trend analysis: Footwear
Micro trends have invaded fashion since the beginning, from subversive trends at the London underground scene, to microcosms that establish themselves within different regions spreading their virality for certain items. Following the Y2K trend, we have seen many of these come and go, let’s take a look at some we think can actually withstand the test of time and discuss!

Birkenstock Clogs
With the resurgence of clogs, the heavy wooden mules that were popular in the 00s, celebrities have managed to push the Birkenstock Boston clogs to cult item status. From the streets of Hollywood, Kendall was one of the first to be seen adding this pair to her wardrobe and from there the show just catapulted to international sensation. When fall came around, almost every social media personality styled a pair with fuzzy socks and called it a day. This has also opened up many collaboration doors for the brand, from luxury brands like Dior to cool streetwear brands like Fear of God. Was it a yay or nay for you?

UGGs
This one is a little crazier, with personal shoppers receiving requests to source for the sold out pair of boots that Bella Hadid was photographed wearing on the streets of New York. This slowly started with the Tazz sandal being seen on Gigi at the end of 2021 and that style became highly sought after. In 2022, her sister then catapulted the boot into becoming another cult item. Because of this, many people have been sporting these fluffy boots all throughout winter. UGG really has to thank the Hadids for their recent popularity.

Adidas Sambas
Sneakers have been a trend since sneaker dropping began, but this shoe has been sold out and so unattainable that even if it’s not your style you might still buy it if given the chance. The fact that it is seen in every other paparazzi photo on Kendall Jenner, Emily Ratajowski, Kaia Gerber and most notable Bella Hadid only adds to its appeal. These shoes are great tho, a vintage tennis look and easy to style with almost anything it has been a wardrobe staple for many.

Cowboy Boots
Have we seen enough around yet? Are we ready for it to hit its peak and disappear? The cowboy boot has been seen as a wardrobe staple all throughout summer. Following the vintage and Y2K trend, the abundance of these boots in vintage stores has certainly helped push this to become a wardrobe must-have that even in the hot summer days you have to wear them. Have to say though, they are usually very comfortable and if they’re thrifted, environmentally friendly too. So, hey what’s not to like about that.
After looking through the trends, many of them seem to originate from Hollywood with these IT girls seen strutting around in affordable pieces and them going viral. Lending a sense of relatability to these celebrities, what are your thoughts?
