Resort 2023: Trend Report

The latest Resort 2023 fashion week was almost back to its pre-covid state. With influencers travelling through all 4 cities and an increased number of brands showing at the different cities. It was definitely buzzing with activity. We wanted to break down some of the key elements of next season’s looks and take a look beyond the iconic moments into the details.

Denim

Denim was a huge recurring element throughout many brands. Besides denim centric brands like Diesel heavily using denim, other designers also walked denim down the runway. With many different variations, from Y2K styled  mermaid patchwork maxi skirts to heavily distressed denim ensembles. You’ll see the versatility of the material and the different visions that each designer has brought to life.

Sheer Fabrics

With no shortage of sheer fabrics in the show, this element is here to stay in the next 2 seasons at least. With designers playing around with the opacity of the materials and using this as a layering technique to add dimension to their looks. The use of these contrasting opacities also creates a contrast in textures, often softening a masculine look. Especially seen in this season’s Prada.

Sequins & Rhinestones

Party looks are always included in each season, this season however, we keep seeing the repetition of designers using sequins, incorporating prints or cutouts into traditional silhouettes. With these blinged up dresses strutting down the runway, you cannot help but want to max out your social calendar just to don a few of these dresses.

Cargo Pants & Utility Wear

With the rise of the cargo, we have seen many variations of it walking down the runway. From leather to silk, high rise to low rise, many designers have adopted the silhouette and added their own spin.  From oversized zip around pockets to  flight suits, we have seen more utilitarian elements popping up throughout fashion week.
