Designer Spotlight: Collina Strada

Launched in 2018, Collina Strada is a New York eponymous brand founded by Hillary Taymour that calls for climate awareness, social awareness, and self-expression.

If you saw Collina Strada’s designs in a crowd, you could easily pick them out as it is arduous and loud. The brand’s collections revolve around sustainability and diversity.

The commitment to climate change was evident in their Spring 2020 show, where each attendee’s seat sat a reusable produce bag and a guide to save the Earth. The note encouraged showgoers to consume less meat but more plants, cook at home, and plant a tree.

Besides the drive for climate change, the brand cast its own set of models. Strada cast people of different ages and LGBTQ+ friends and survivors.

Upcycling, repurposing, and refashioning were the elements that birthed the collection. You can expect patched pastels, printed prints, etched illustrations, and fringe embellished with crystals within the collection.
