‘Succession’ season spurs search interest as Burberry handbags appeared

Season four of ‘Succession’ debuted on Sunday, and while viewers were happy to see the show return, one scene in particular caught the attention of internet users, particularly among the fashion crowd. 

The series instantly flocked on TikTok after the season premiere and many users started discussing about the show. The complicated family dynamics of the Roy family and the drama of ‘Succession’ are typically what draw viewers to the program and make them interested in trending topics on social media, but this time a Burberry tote bag was the centre of attention.

A virtual fitting room company called 3DLook decided to investigate Burberry’s search interest following the episode and discovered that “Burberry Tote Bag” search interest on Google has increased by 310 percent since the episode. Burberry handbag and Burberry tote bag searches have increased by 180% and 25%, respectively.

The searches instantly created buzz and publicity for the British brand, and it does create a major impact for the brand’s recognition and identity. 

Luxury brands appearing on television shows is not unheard of. In fact, it’s a smart way of product placement. Fashion and pop culture have always instinctively melded itself. And we’re here for it.
