Louis Vuitton’s latest collaboration with Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama will be hitting the stores early 2023. We have been seeing many influencers unboxing and styling the pieces in the last week. Let’s take a look at what a second time collaboration entails.

The first collaboration was in 2012 when Marc Jacobs was still womenswear creative director, with Yayoi’s iconic repetitive polka dot print adorning their iconic bag styles like the Speedy, Alma, Neverfull, Papillon and more. These pieces are now considered collectors’ items especially for art fanatics or fans of the eccentric artist.

Louis Vuitton has also collaborated on other Art projects like the Jeff Koons collection from 2017 where he reimagined their bags with masterpieces from artists like Monet, Da Vinci, Van Gogh and more. The brand has returned this spring with a second collaboration with Yayoi Kusama and we are here for it.

Differing from their previous collaboration, this time the eccentric designer seemed to have modernised her style of art with sparse and far apart polka dots, silver studs and a more understated print. The most prominent print are the primary coloured haphazard polka dots overlaid on their monogram.

The overlap of art and fashion is not a novel concept, but Louis Vuitton has always managed to create successful commercial projects out of their creative endeavours. This collection is yet another to be added to the collector’s wardrobe and for art lovers to appreciate tangible art.
