Designer Spotlight: Coperni
By now, I’m sure you have heard of the Parisian brand Coperni. Often worn by Kylie Jenner, Dua Lipa, Rihana, Doja Cat and more. It’s been making rounds in the Hollywood stylists’ phonebook. It was launched in 2013 by Sébastien Meyer and Arnaud Vaillant focusing on ready-to-wear and accessories.

Coperni was named after the Renaissance-era astronomer Nicolaus Copernicus, whose mathematical and astronomical research into Heliocentrism inspires their designs. Their brand rose to recognition following their launch of the iconic Swipe bag in 2019. Following their success, they expanded their ready-to-wear line to include ironic yet polished tailoring for the modern woman.
Their creative endeavours did not stop there, the most recent claim to fame was when Doja Cat wore their hand blown glass Swipe bag to the Grammys. Following that, Kylie Jenner was also seen carrying the same bag. These unorthodox moves have helped differentiate them from their peers and allowed them to make an impression amongst all the noise.

Their latest Spring 2023 show was probably the highlight of Paris Fashion Week, with them showcasing a sprayed on dress. Having a nude Bella Hadid strutting down the runway to the ‘spray booth’ and having their technicians spray on a dress, then pull and manipulate it to its final design. It was refreshing for the tired fashion crowd after month-long festivities.

As Coperni continues to innovate and set forth higher benchmarks within the industry, we look forward to the showmanship their brand adds to the RTW show line up.
