Gen Z creatives have been paving the way in the local fashion industry with their creativity and individuality. Here are some designers to take note.
Densie Chong: Beadwork Designer
24-year-old Denise Chong, a second-year Fashion Media undergraduate of Lasalle College of the Arts originated her love for craft during Singapore’s circuit breaker. Beadwork was simply a hobby for her to beat time. As she started amassing recognition for her work, the student launched her first collection ‘Coercion’ consisting corset, mini skirt, and bralette. The designs are Chong’s vision ‘to evoke the lustfulness of a woman’s body’ and target the Gen Z crowd. The provocative and subversive brand ethos embodies hints of a ‘90s Helmut Lang-meets-modern-day-Nensi Dojaka approach.

Moh Ee Jin: Lasik Industries
This youth-led label gives me punk meets streetwear kinda vibe. With the use of black and white, you can expect oversized lab coats, oversized t-shirts, and multi-pocketed cargo pants. Apart from being a fashion label, Jin wants Lasik to be a community too. He is keen on utilising his garment to perform collaborative works like conceptual shoots, videos and music with photographers, models and friends.

Fiona Ng: Stil Nook
Fiona Ng experiements with unorthodox methods of production. Making use of leaves and food waste, Ng transforms these materials into one-of-a-kind, handmade pieces like bags, pouches, and necklaces.
