How’s Thrifting In Singapore?
The exponential rise of thrifting has caused many to open thrift shops. And most of them are dominated by Gen Zs. Conventional thrift shops sell products as low as $1/item. However, some stores deemed themselves as ‘thrift’ shops but charge between $30-$50/piece.
As a thrifter myself, I can safely say that thrifting in Singapore is mediocre. If you truly want to experience traditional thrift shopping, you should visit Lucky Plaza or New2u. Lucky plaza has a variation of thrift shops running within the mall. Expect to find a wide range of women’s clothing with a minimal section for men. And you require patience to sift through the racks to find something cute. But there are bad days when you won’t acquire anything.
New2u is a stand alone shop along Waterloo Street. From women’s to kid’s clothes, and even footwear, you’ll be able to find hidden gems occasionally. I once scored myself a pair of Prada kitten heels for just $18! They also conduct End of Year Bazaar where they sell a bunch of pre-loved designer items for less. As such, do expect a sea of people and having to navigate your way through the crowd.
But I’ve to say the winter selection does not pass the vibe check. Well, I guess its expected that its not the best considering Singapore is a tropical city.
