Fresh Finds: Dior Lady 95.22
The iconic Lady Dior has been around since 1995 and this year Dior launched a new spin off called the Lady 95.22, a contemporary update to the bag that was known to be a gift to Princess Diana, our forever fashion icon.
Viewed as a rebirth This new bag features a new silhouette whilst retaining key elements of the old icon. Its moniker was derived from the year of Lady Dior’s creation, 1995, and this new silhouette’s unveiling at their Fall Winter 2022 show.
Featuring an all around cannage motif, its handles are slightly different from its predecessor, with a rounded finish and visible hardware, it certainly provides a more distinctive look. Utilising full grain calfskin, the cannage is achieved using high-frequency embossing which allows a suppleness in its bag.
It is not often that a fashion house decides to revisit and reinvent an icon, yet here Maria Grazia Chiuri has decided this rebirth will bring empowerment to the wearer. With this strong message in mind, the first woman selected to front the launch campaign is feminist author, Chimamanda Ngoi Adichie. Besides her, global ambassador Jisoo of Blackpink has been seen carrying the bag during their world tour.
