K-Pop X Fashion: BTS
Korean pop culture has become an international phenomenon and a strong influence in many industries. Fashion has definitely tapped into these young pop stars as ambassadors looking to reel in the huge fan groups they have amassed. From scheduled appearances at fashion weeks to starring in fashion campaigns, their participation has been rocketed to the next level by global ambassadorships.
BTS’ international acclaim has propelled them towards many luxury fashion houses. Following their recent announcement of individual projects, V of BTS has scored a personal invite to the front row of Celine’s SS23 show. Following recent individual endeavours, other members have taken on their first solo fashion ambassadorships. Most recent announcements showcasing Dior signing on Jimin as their global ambassador and releasing a series of campaign images via their respective official Instagram account.
Suga has also scored himself a global ambassador deal with Valentino and announced in the small week as his band mate. This is the first time that the band members have had high profile individual ambassadorship deals. Their previous Louis Vuitton ambassadorship was as a group of 7 and they have since deviated from group activities.
The employ of these international superstars will surely divert a huge amount of K-pop stans to their going-ons, but also a large subset of non K-pop stans will inevitably question who are these androgynously good looking individuals now fronting global campaigns. Blackpink members have seen tremendous success following their global ambassadorships, from Chanel to Bulgari, they have captured the attention of their audience following each campaign launch.
