Designer Spotlight: Peter Do
Peter Do, an eponymous label, started in New York CIty in 2018. The brand was started with the designer and his long time friends, proving that it takes a village in fashion as well. Since its inception, Peter Do has always showcased sharp tailoring cleverly mixing in versatility through removable elements in pieces.

It initially started as a womenswear brand with a very androgynous aesthetic. In their latest NYFW show, Peter Do debuted their menswear collection proofing the fluidity of their apparel and blurring the lines of mens and womenswear with their largely gender neutral pieces. Having previously worked in Celine under Phoebe Philo’s reign, when the brand launched, the fashion industry was holding its breath for a successor of Philo’s Celine.

The label has carved its own path through its initial small collections to its latest 61 look show, crafting quality tailoring pieces with a twist for women. Their latest foray into menswear has also proven that their unique take on tailoring is essentially genderless. Basing a lot of his design inspiration on his Vietnamese heritage, creating looks of dresses over pants is an homage to traditional Vietnamese attire.
Their humble beginnings have flourished and they constantly wow the minimalist community with their minimalist statement looks. Yes, it feels like an oxymoron, but the Peter Do client is not looking to be minimalist to blend into the crowd, they are looking for well crafted minimalist pieces that tell their story and Peter Do will help them do that.

We look forward to more of what the label has to offer, in their latest show notes, they said that the label dresses people, not men or women. We anticipate more genderless essentials with a twist being sent down their runway and we cannot wait to see what else this minimalist icon can dream up in his Brooklyn studio.
